Tihanovska calls on the international community to show solidarity with women in Belarus – Abroad – News

“Since last August, women have been fighting bravely for their rights, for their freedom, for the dignity of all Belarusians,” Tikhanovska said on Sunday in the Telegram app.

She recalled that women had taken to the streets with flowers in their hands to protest against Alexander Lukashenko’s regime and its widespread violence.

“Strong women are leading these protests,” Tihanovsky said, calling on politicians, representatives of international organizations and creative personalities to show solidarity with Belarusian women “who continue their peaceful struggle for freedom.”

Tihanovska also noted that more than 30 countries no longer recognize Lukashenko as the president of Belarus.

“Over the past six months, Lukashenko has not met with foreign leaders, except [Krievijas prezidentu Vladimiru] Putin, “Tihanovsky said, adding that she had met with leaders of more than 20 countries.

Tikhanovsky was forced to flee to Lithuania after the August 9 presidential election, which was announced by the former President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko. However, the opposition accuses the regime of widespread falsification of election results and demands the resignation of Lukashenko. The opposition considers Tikhanovsky the real winner of the election.

After the elections in Belarus, protests began against the Lukashenko regime, which, in terms of scope, turned out to be an unprecedented mass movement.
