Ticino politicians want to close the border because of the corona virus

The first coronavirus death in Italy was reported in the night of Saturday. It is a 78-year-old patient who died in Padua in the Veneto region in northern Italy, according to the Ansa news agency.

In the meantime, a second patient infected with the coronavirus died. It is an Italian woman who may have come into contact with an infected 38-year-old man in Lombardy, the Italian health authorities said on Saturday.

In Lombardy, 27 people were diagnosed with the corona virus, in Veneto there are nine, it was said. Several doctors and nurses were among the infected.

The Chinese citizen, who had been confirmed as the first coronavirus case in Italy with his wife three weeks ago, was released from the intensive care unit of the Roman hospital “Lazzaro Spallanzani” in Rome, which specializes in infectious diseases, the doctors reported on Saturday.

Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte said on Facebook that his government would respond decisively to the emergency. He did not rule out that the cabinet could take further measures to limit the epidemic in northern Italy after ten communities in Lombardy with around 50,000 people were isolated on Friday.

After the two deaths in northern Italy, increased attention and caution applies in Austria, but there is still no reason to panic, according to the Austrian Ministry of Health. In Austria, tests have so far been carried out on 181 suspected cases and all have been negative, it said on Saturday.

BAG is sticking to its previous strategy

More than 80 percent of patients would have a mild form of the disease and would recover. In 20 percent, it is a severe form, which in some cases leads to death.

South Korea reported 87 new cases of infection. The number rose to a total of 433 cases, the news agency Yonhap reported and appealed to the health authorities. The electronics company Samsung reported one of the confirmed cases of infection at its plant in Gumi in South Korea. The branch where cell phones are manufactured has been closed.

Iran reported ten new cases of infection on Saturday. One of the patients had died, the spokesman for the Ministry of Health said. A total of 28 cases are known in Iran, five of these people infected with the coronavirus died.

According to Chinese information, the incubation period could be longer than the previously assumed two weeks. A 70-year-old man in Hubei province was infected with the coronavirus, but showed no symptoms for 27 days, the provincial government said. Longer periods from infection to the first signs of the disease could complicate efforts to contain the epidemic.
