YANGON – A recent report stated that China apparently not only send COVID-19 vaccine to the junta Myanmar , but also to the rebel group who were the mortal enemies of the generals.

Beijing is known to have handed over nearly 13 million doses of the vaccine to Myanmar’s junta, which toppled Aung San Suu Kyi in February and plunged Myanmar and its health care system into chaos.

But the Myanmar junta seems powerless to stop the spread new corona virus . This condition scares China where they are waging a “zero case” war against COVID-19 .

So Beijing is secretly sending thousands of vaccines, medical workers and building materials to quarantine centers, some groups say Myanmar rebels to AFP.

“Chinese Red Cross staff sometimes come to our aid…to help us prevent the Covid-19 pandemic,” Colonel Naw Bu, spokesman for the Kachin Independence Army (KIA), was quoted as saying. France24, Wednesday (22/9/2021).

“But they didn’t come to live here,” added the colonel, whose group — numbering in the thousands — control territory in Myanmar’s jade-rich northern hills.

“They only come for a while and come back,” he concluded.

The KIA is one of more than 20 ethnic Myanmar insurgent groups that have fought each other and the military over drug trafficking, natural resources and autonomy. Many of the rebel groups control swathes of remote border areas.
