Three weirs in use – St. Pölten: ÖBB wagon was on fire

It is thanks to attentive witnesses that a fire was discovered in spritzers. A ÖBB passenger car that was parked on a siding had caught fire. Firefighters and police were immediately informed.

The fire was started by the St. Pölten Spratzern fire department with the support of the comrades from the St. Pölten Stadt and St. Pölten-St. Deleted yesterday.

The police immediately started an investigation into the cause of the fire: At the location, several ÖBB passenger cars were parked on a side track of the Leobersdorfer Bahn for scrapping. All wagons were not connected to any electrical supply. In the course of the surveys, it was found that an entrance door was open when the wagon was burning. All other entrances were blocked. During the inspection, it was also ascertained that there were obviously people in this car before the fire broke out. Numerous traces were found: Various items of clothing were found, a lighter, several batteries and a sprayed-out fire extinguisher could be discovered in the immediate fire area.

It is currently assumed that the fire was caused by glowing or afterglowing particles such as tobacco products or by the introduction of an open flame.

The fire caused considerable damage. Since the wagon is intended for scrapping, it is no longer being repaired. No one was injured by the fire.
