The accident occurred at 7:30 p.m. Saturday on the Samuel-De Champlain Bridge northbound when a motorist hit a motorcyclist.

The driver of the car, a man in his 60s, was arrested and taken to the police station for driving while impaired by alcohol.

Severely injured, the motorcyclist, a man also in his sixties, was taken to hospital.

Three out of five northbound lanes were closed to traffic to allow reconstructionists to inspect the scene, causing heavy traffic congestion.

Remember that the Jacques-Cartier Bridge is closed until 11:30 p.m. due to the fireworks scheduled for this evening in Montreal.
