Thousands of TNI-Polri Officials Escort Rizieq’s Appeal Decision Session

Jakarta, CNN Indonesia

A total of 1,149 joint TNI-Polri personnel were deployed to secure the trial for the appeal decision related to the swab test case at the Ummi Hospital in Bogor with the defendant Rizieq Shihab from DKI Jakarta High Court, Monday (30/8).

“1,149 security personnel,” said the Head of the Public Relations Sub-Division of the Central Jakarta Metro Police AKP Sam Suharto when confirmed.

Meanwhile, the Head of the Cempaka Putih Police, Kompol Ade Rosa, said that his party had prepared security to guard the trial.

However, he did not explain further whether there is special security or not prepared by the police.

“We are preparing security, for details please go to the Resort Police,” said Ade briefly.

It is known, in the case of a swab test at the Ummi Hospital in Bogor, the judge sentenced the former FPI High Priest to four years in prison.

This verdict is lower than what the public prosecutor demanded in this case. Prosecutors previously demanded Rizieq to 6 years in prison in the case.

In his decision, the judge stated that Rizieq was charged with primary charges of Article 14 paragraph (1) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 1 of 1946 concerning the Criminal Law Regulations Jo Article 55 paragraph (1) of the 1st Criminal Code.

Rizieq also filed an appeal against the verdict. In addition, Rizieq also rejected the presidential pardon option offered by the judge.
