Almost half a kilometer of the river bed was filled with three thousand 20-liter canisters with unknown contents.
On the border of the villages of Blistavitsa and Lubyanka in the Kiev region, unknown persons threw almost three thousand 20-liter canisters with an unknown substance into the Kizka River. On weekends, the locals cleared the pond. This was announced by Buchansky mayor Anatoly Fedoruk on the page in Facebook.
It is noted that about 400 meters along the river bed were thrown with garbage and cans.
“It so happened that on the day of the environment, we jointly save the Kozka River, the surrounding area from the actions of people who can hardly even be called by such a word. Construction waste and solid household waste were removed along with a significant number of canisters,” Fedoruk said.
The work was also attended by employees of the State Emergency Service, police, utilities, local residents, employees of the Buchansky City Council.
According to the secretary of the Buchansk city council, Taras Shapravsky, criminal proceedings have already been initiated regarding environmental pollution. With the participation of officials, the scene of the incident was examined, samples of an unknown chemical were taken and a forensic examination was appointed to establish its origin.
Previously in the Lviv region, due to an accident, bitumen got into the stream… A bitumen emulsion leaked through the mouth of the overturned cistern.
