The success of Ed Sheeran’s two gigs at Thomond Park last summer resulted in the company that operates the stadium seeing a significant boost in revenue. According to new accounts from Thomond Park Stadium Co DAC, the business recorded €320,908 in public event income and experienced a surge in hospitality and catering income. Overall, the company’s revenues in 2022 reached €1.52m, almost triple the previous year’s figure. Separate data from Pollstar showed that the two Ed Sheeran concerts generated $5.19m at the box office and sold 61,780 tickets. The positive financial performance, as commented by Thomond Park Stadium Director, John Cantwell, was an important rebound from the negative impact of the Covid pandemic during the previous two years. The stadium is expected to perform well again on the upcoming three Dermot Kennedy concerts in July, delivering significant economic benefits to Limerick and the Mid-West region.
