A video circulated on social media that supposedly shows Donald Trump and his daughter Ivanka Trump watching the assault on the Capitol on a screen. However, such material was taken out of context. It took minutes before the violent events began, prior to a Trump rally.
A user on Twitter shared the video criticizing that Trump listened to the song “Gloria” in the background, and another said that “there was a celebration of the Trump family, when the fascist mob climbed the wall of the capitol.”
The video was shared thousands of times. But this is what we found about the moment that the recording actually shows:
Where did the video come from?
The video was recorded on January 6, in a tent minutes before Trump spoke to his supporters, in front of the White House.
In the video you can see Donald and Ivanka looking at some screens, but what you see on them is not the attack on the Capitol. That happened later.
How we came to this conclusion
The El Sabueso team came to this conclusion after carefully observing the video. In detail, people are observed on the screen who are not in a disturbance, but are attending an event, as a crowd is seen in front of a stage.
Two versions of the same video circulate. In the version that lasts more than two minutes, it can be observed that Donald Trump Jr., the eldest son of the current president of the United States, is the one who makes the video.
Around the second 12, Donald Jr. looks happy and thanks everyone. He also mentions that he cannot believe “the attendance of thousands of people to see a man (in reference to Donald Trump) and adds that“ it really is hard to believe (that) unfortunately there is a street that separates the main public and the mass Seeing them arrive is amazing ”.
By minute one, seven seconds, he draws the attention of Kimberly Guilfoyle, wife of Donald Jr. himself and president of the Trump Finance Committee. She starts dancing to the beat of the song Gloria.
Then he directs the camera towards his father and his sister Ivanka, who have not noticed the recording and continue to speak in front of the screens, where those attending the meeting look at each other.

In a shorter version, during the 1 minute and 20 seconds you can see the continuation, where Donald Jr. says that in a few seconds the Trump team will come out in front of everyone. Kimberly Guilfoyle comments: we will do things well, we will fight ”. The latter in reference to the Trump team describing Joe Biden’s victory as electoral fraud, although they have shown no evidence of this.

The assault on the Capitol happened after
During the rally in front of the White House, Trump urged his supporters to march towards the Capitol, on Pennsylvania Avenue. “We are going to walk to the Capitol. And we will cheer for our brave senators and congressmen and women. And we are probably not going to be encouraging so much to some of them, because they will never recover our country with weakness, they have to show strength and they have to be strong, “Trump said at his rally.
The intention of going to the place was to express disagreement and achieve the annulment of the votes, because the House of Representatives and the Senate carried out that same Wednesday the certification of Joe Biden as president-elect of the United States.
Trump assured that he would walk with them, but it did not happen that way, instead he went to the White House. While his supporters walked about 2 miles, something like 3 kilometers, to reach the Capitol. It was minutes after the arrival of Trump supporters that the violent assault was recorded.

In conclusion
The video that circulates on networks is true and was recorded by Donald Trump Jr, Trump’s eldest son. But it does not show the current president of the United States watching the revolt on Capitol Hill on screens.
