This Super Mario Bros. game sells for auction of Rp. 9.6 billion, creating a new record

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – A copy of the game Super Mario A brooch from Nintendo that was bought in 1986 and not yet opened and sold for US $ 660 thousand (equivalent to Rp. 9.6 billion). The game is auctioned at Heritage Auctions in Dallas, United States, on Friday April 2, 2021.

According to information from the auction house, game it was bought as a Christmas present, but ended up in a drawer. The seal remained in its plastic packaging and device intact until it was discovered earlier this year.

“Because the production window for this copy is so short, finding it from the same production run under the same conditions would be akin to looking for a drop of water in the ocean,” said Heritage Auction video game specialist Valarie McLeckie, as quoted by Fox Business, Sunday, April 4. 2021.

Heritage says it is the best copy based on professional judgment for auction. It’s not just the plastic seal that’s still neat, it’s also the oldest sealed copy of a Super Mario Bros game ever offered.

The selling price also far exceeds the US $ 114,000 of the unopened copy of the game from 1987 production.The game set was auctioned off in July 2020 and at that time broke a record US $ 100,150 for another copy of the Super Mario Bros game in February 2019.
