This Saturday the Latin American League of League of Legends returns

This weekend finally begins the 2021 Opening tournament of the Latin American League (LLA) of League of Legends, which arrives with a series of news regarding its transmissions and schedules.

As usual, the league will continue to be played on Saturdays and Sundays, although in a new schedule and among its novelties is the inclusion of Estral in the squad of participating teams, and the return of the Chilean squad KLG.

The league, which is in its second year in Mexico, also comes with a series of challenges facing the new season, and despite having a face-to-face stage, the league had to switch to a remote format given the contingency that lives from the coronavirus.

We spoke a few days ago about these challenges with Juan José Moreno, Director of Public Relations of Riot Games, who told us that “We have to continue to ensure the safety of the players, the contingency situation still has us a bit tied up, but we are working so that their health is the most important thing.”

As he explains, during the past year “everything that was the operational logistics changed, because before we had the broadcast equipment, the transmission room, we had to move all of that to individual equipment in the homes of each of the people who They do the transmission, we went from that format in which the whole team was gathered, to one in which the whole team was at home, although this caused us to say, we did not have that ‘upgrade’ that we wanted to have in the quality of transmission, I believedor that we performed quite well last year and we also learned to be able to handle these situations for the future ”.

Another novelty that the league will present for this year are new transmission channels, both through traditional television and streaming platforms, in the first case several channels are added, and In the case of Chile, it may be viewed through Via X.

But if something draws attention, it is that this year Riot Games has worked with some content creators to co-stream the league, something that undoubtedly draws attention, since this way some will be able to follow the meetings with their favorite streamers, despite this they mention that in this first stage no new applications will be considered and the list of creators who participate will be announced later .

Despite the pandemic, 2020 was not a bad year for video games, with a considerable increase in sales and consumption through streaming platforms. The LLA was not oblivious to this, and as detailed by Juan José Moreno, “Last year we broke audience records in the entire history of League of Legends Latin American esports.”

It should be remembered that this year, Riot Games also has a multi-game reality, with titles such as Valorant and Legends of Runeterra, which are gradually making their place. “We want to aim for the audiences of the games to see the competitiveness of each of the games, but at the same time attract new audiences,” he added in this regard.

The official transmission of the LLA begins this January 30 from 17:00 PM Mexico, 18:00 PM Peru and Colombia, 20:00 PM Argentina and Chile.
