What did the people of Bonn hear the most in 2022?

Bonn Spotify’s annual review data shows: In Bonn and the region, places one to three are occupied by the same artists this year, after which there are some differences. Especially rap has been popular this year.
The annual Spotify review or “Spotify Wrapped” has long since established itself on Instagram. The most listened to songs and favorite artists conquer the stories of thousands of users every December. There are also often surprises, especially if you share a Spotify account, for example with friends or family. The five most streamed musicians worldwide on Spotify this year are Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny, Taylor Swift, Drake, The Weeknd and Korean band BTS.
Three German rappers lead the top ten in Bonn
There are some differences in the preferred music of Spotify users in Bonn and the region. But the top three remain the same in Bonn, Cologne, Siegburg and Euskirchen: Luciano, RAF Camora, Bonez MC – in the same order in all four cities. The genres rap and German rap clearly predominate in all four cities: six to seven musicians per city can be assigned to the genres. Berlin rapper Luciano was last year’s most streamed German-speaking artist, according to his record label Universal, and currently has more than 6.7 million monthly listeners on Spotify.
German rap meets Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran
The people of Bonn are not only fans of German rap, but also fans of Taylor Swift. The American musician is fourth in Bonn, followed by Ed Sheeran. With Drake, Eminem and David Guetta, three other international artists made the list of ten most played musicians in the Spotify Highlights Bonn. In the nearby city of Cologne, however, Taylor Swift does not appear in the top ten; Even Ed Sheeran is further back here, in sixth place. Songs by The Weeknd were streamed in Cologne, as well as music by Cro and Capital Bra. The latter does not appear in the Bonn data. Cro, on the other hand, ranks centrally in all four cities.
A look at the region after Siegburg and Euskirchen shows: after the first three there are also small but subtle differences here. Taylor Swift feels a lot in Siegburg, people from Euskirchen tend to stream t-low; also a German rapper who topped the singles charts with his songs “We made it” and “Sehnsucht” in spring 2022. With the exception of one artist, listeners in Euskirchen and Siegburg have similar preferences to listeners of Cologne and Bonn, only the order is slightly different. Juice WRLD, an American rapper who died in 2019, secures a place in the top ten in Euskirchen and Siegburg. In Euskirchen he is seventh with his music by him, in Siegburg he is eighth.
Famous musicians and Taylor Swift as the only woman on the charts
With Eminem, a well-known rap star also appears in Spotify data in three out of four cities. In Cologne he does not enter the top ten, in the other cities the musician is in ninth or tenth place. David Guetta, who is not a new face in the music world, is also quite in the background. In Bonn he finished ninth, in Cologne tenth. Siegburg scrolls the musician so intensively that he is in seventh place, in Euskirchen even one place higher.
What is striking is that Taylor Swift was the only woman to make the list of favorite artists in Bonn and the region. This should not least be due to their current album “Midnights”. The American musician has more than 82 million monthly listeners on Spotify. The singer’s tenth album was already the best-selling album of the year at the end of October 2022, reports Rolling Stone. In November, she took all ten spots on the US charts with songs from “Midnights”.
