KOMPAS.com – A museum in Ireland celebrating the country’s diaspora being named a Leading Tourist Attraction in World Travel Awards for the second time in a row.
Launch Lonely Planet, Friday (6/11/2020), the Irish Emigration Museum named EPIC is an interactive museum in Dublin.
The museum tells the story of the immigrants there. For its second year, EPIC won an award from the World Travel Awards which is an Oscars for the travel industry.

Chosen by the public, the museum has even managed to beat a number of famous places such as Istana Buckingham, Eiffel Tower, and the Colosseum.
This made EPIC claim the top spot and made it the first tourist spot to claim the title twice in the award’s 27 year history.
Irish President Michael D Higgins said the award was a public recognition of the role of the museum.
“The role in highlighting the experiences of Irish emigrants, their causes and consequences, and their relevance to the stories of people currently fleeing marginalization, poverty and conflict,” he said, citing Lonely Planet.
What’s on EPIC?
EPIC documents the impact Irish emigrants have on the world, as well as the challenges they face.
The museum also highlights how Irish emigrants shaped their new home culture. The museum also facilitates visitors who wish to trace their Irish genealogy.
During the Covid-19 pandemic and various lockdown, EPIC has adapted to enforce its distancing regime through workshops, webinars and virtual tours.

Apart from that, they cater to tourists who want to find out more about their Irish ancestry and welcome more than 20,000 visitors online by 2020.

“We are very proud to receive this recognition twice in a row, especially in a year full of challenges,” said the Director EPIC Museum Patrick Greene.
He continued, he hopes more Irish citizens visit there and the museum can become a must-see destination for foreign tourists.
