The Chairman of the Egyptian Eva Pharma Company, Dr. Riyad Armanious, expected that the company will be able to export the American anti-viral drug “Remdisever” after July 14, 2020.
Armanius said in an interview with “Arabia” that the Egyptian Eva Pharma Pharmaceutical Industries Company reached an agreement with the American company Gilead SCIENCES to manufacture its remdesivir anti-viral drug and distribute it in 127 countries.
He revealed that the new drug Egypt started using it 3 days ago on Corona patients, and gave priority to critical cases, explaining that this treatment can only be sold in hospitals because it is taken by intravenous injection.
He said that the countries that Egypt will be able to export the drug to in the first stage will be countries in North Africa, including Arab countries, due to the terms of the agreement with the American company, which determines the scope of export of this drug at the regional level.
He explained that under the agreement, Eva Pharma will be provided with all the technological methods and specifications of the manufacturing process and methods of the American company in order to enhance the schedule for the production of remdesivir as soon as possible.
He explained that the drug was available last week in most of the Egyptian hospitals designated for the health isolation of Covid 19 patients, expressing his hope that positive results will appear for this treatment soon.
He said that the production capacity of the company amounts to 20 thousand units per day, and this is a large and reassuring figure, explaining that the price of the drug authorized by the company to sell is equivalent to one third of the international prices, and there is nothing to prevent the sale at the same low price, in other countries to which the property will be exported from Egypt.
