Nine years ago, a father kidnapped his then six-year-old twin daughters from Switzerland. The mother searches for them with new pictures.
Nine years have passed since the 43-year-old father with Alessia and Livia left Saint-Sulpice in the canton of Vaud, five kilometers from Lausanne. The Swiss traveled through France and Italy for a week and then threw himself in front of a train in Cerignola. Since then, no trace of the girls who were six years old has been missing.
Computer images simulate facial aging
Were they murdered by their father? The man wanted to take revenge on his wife, who wanted to separate. He therefore bought three tickets for the Marseille-Propriano ferry in Corsica in winter 2011. It was also suspected that he threw the girls into the water.
But the mother (53) does not give up hope. With the help of a foundation she founded, the Italian lawyer is now starting a new search. She publishes pictures that show what her daughters could look like today. The organization “Missing Children Switzerland” also posted on their Facebook page the computer-processed photos that simulate facial aging.
The purpose of the animation was not only to find witnesses who could have seen these teenagers, but also to speak directly to Alessia and Livia if they were still alive, says Lucie Zimmitti, director of the foundation, about “20 minutes”. All incoming information would be forwarded directly to the Vaud police.
