It is not just any date and companies know that. The Bachelor’s day in China, which is celebrated this Sunday, November 11, is a day indicated on the agenda of many to buy on-line everything that pleases them. A kind of open bar to burn the card of credit that, although some university students devised and patented Alibaba, is used by all kinds of companies.
A day that takes place in China, but whose effects reach even the deepest Spain. Specifically, even many Spanish vineyards, who take advantage of this date to promote their wines and sell beyond our borders.
This is the case, for example, of the winery Felix Solís Avantis, which will make its particular August in China this weekend with the bottles of The Windmills of Valdepeñas. How? Through a million bottles that the winery will distribute through S.Z. Food, company that sells its articles on-line.
For Spanish wine, in fact, China is one of the main export markets. As can be seen in the graph below, in 2017 ‘broth’ exports to the Asian country represented 6% in value. Above China are Germany, with 12.9%, France, with 10.7%, the United States, with 10.5%, and the United Kingdom, with 10.4%.
“They were very interested in Spanish wine, they are convinced that it is very elite there and the founder of the company wants to democratize it“, explain sources of the company. However, this is not the first contact of the Spanish winery with China; not surprisingly, they have a bottling plant in the Asian country since 1998. This agreement, however, is determined by the Bachelor’s Day.
“The commercial relations with the company already existed but were enhanced with this order“, they count from the winery. So much so that the businessman has also been interested in the Rueda and Rioja wines that Félix Solís Avantis also has.
For this company, export is essential. So much so that 60% of its sales are international. So, take their wines to 120 countries, and have offices in Germany, the United Kingdom, France, China or Russia.
