This is the reason Tottenham did not sign Gattuso

London

Tottenham Hotspur got close Gennaro Gattuso as a potential new manager. However, because of one thing, the Lilywhites withdrew.

Tottenham are indeed looking for a new manager after sacking Jose Mourinho at the end of April. Tottenham initially approached Antonio Conte.

But, in the end, it failed because Tottenham were unable to meet Conte’s salary demands as well as Conte’s shopping list. Then, Tottenham turned to Paulo Fonseca who had just resigned from AS Roma.

Fonseca is likely to become Tottenham’s new manager because he agreed to a salary request and contract duration. Uh, when it stayed black and white, the deal fell through.

Investigate a calibaration, Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is reluctant to pay additional tax from Fonseca’s contract. So Tottenham was then the laughing stock of the British public because of the manager’s search.

However, Tottenham continued their search for a new manager and Gennaro Gattuso was among the candidates. Incidentally Gattuso also just parted ways with Fiorentina after two weeks of contract.

Gattuso is in talks with Tottenham’s management and a two-year contract has been put in place. But, again the deal failed because of resistance from Tottenham fans.

The hashtag #NoGattuso then echoed so that Tottenham chose to step down. Fans seem less convinced by Gattuso’s track record as a coach despite winning the Coppa Italia with Napoli.

Moreover, Gattuso also had a bad history when he was a player, so Tottenham were reluctant to sign him. Quoted by Sky Sport Italia, Gattuso had publicly attacked the son of former Milan president Silvio Berlusconi, Barbara, in 2013.

Barbara was at that time a high-ranking AC Milan, the club where Gattuso played. The 43-year-old man was apparently not happy and hurled insulting sentences at women.

“I don’t think women deserve to be in football. I’m sorry, but this is just my opinion,” Gattuso was quoted as saying by Radio Radio.

Gennaro Gattuso left Milan in 2012 and was coach of the club in the 2013/2014 season. After failing to get Gattusso, who do you think Tottenham Hotspur will approach?
