Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Although iOS 15 was only released some time ago, rumors about iOS 16 are already circulating. Reportedly there are a number of phones that no longer get support from the operating system.
The iPhoneSoft report cites a source as saying that Apple is planning to stop support for the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus, and iPhone SE. While iPadOS 16 does not support iPad mini 4, iPad Air 2, iPad (5th generation), and iPad Pro 2015.
The 9to5Mac page says there has been no official information about the rumors. This news was only available when Apple announced iOS 16 at WWDC 2022, quoted Tuesday (12/21/2021).
However, 9to5Mac notes that iPhonesoft reports always provide device matrix information correctly on iOS 13 and iOS 14. Indeed, there was an error last year when claiming iPhone 6S and SE did not receive the iOS 15 update. Because the OS supports all the same device models as iOS 14 before. .
If iPhonesoft’s report is correct, it means that iOS 16 needs an A10 chip for the minimum specifications to be able to get new features later.
For information, the iPhone 6S and iPhone SE were released in 2015 and 2016. That means they’ve been getting regular software updates for over six years.
