“This has to stop, someone will end up dead”. Senior election official accuses Trump of inciting violence – Executive Digest

A senior Georgia state election official, Republican Gabriel Sterling, accused Donald Trump of inciting violence, claiming that the outgoing President of the United States was responsible for any violence that resulted from unsubstantiated allegations of electoral fraud he had fueled.

“This has gone too far,” warned Gabriel Sterling. “You have to stop,” he said during a speech at the Georgia State Capitol this Tuesday. The Republican also asked Trump to control his supporters, otherwise “someone will end up dead”.

Georgia is conducting a second recount of votes at the request of Donald Trump. At first, Joe Biden was declared the winner in this key state. The second recount shows no major changes, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger, also a Republican, said on Wednesday, who said there had been no evidence of widespread fraud to support Trump’s claims.

Gabriel Sterling, who oversaw the implementation of the new postal voting system in Georgia. “Mr President, it looks like you probably lost this state,” he said. “Stop inspiring people to commit potential acts of violence. Someone will get hurt, someone will get shot, someone will end up dead. And that is not right ”, he appealed, during the speech that was published on Twitter.

Gabriel Sterling also accused Trump of “inspiring people to commit potential acts of violence”, as he still does not admit that he lost and insists that there was electoral fraud.

Georgia will hold two secondary elections in January, which will determine who controls the Senate. Trump’s Republican party currently has a slim majority in the upper house, and a victory in the second round could allow it to thwart the democratic administration of President-elect Joe Biden.
