“These 543 doctors, deceased colleagues and many more health workers, were not inevitable deaths, it has to do with the lack of minimum working conditions,” he said.
Cevallos added that “we are not going to allow one more doctor to die due to the lack of vaccines.”
In this sense, he highlighted as a “moving experience” to see that the brigades of doctors and nurses “move to the most remote places to protect life and health, through vaccination.”
Till the date, Peru has applied 28.2 million vaccines among its population, of which 16 million correspond to the first dose and 11.8 million to the full guideline, which represents 42% of the population over 12 years of age.
On the other hand, the president of The Savior, Nayib Watch, announced that the application of the third dose of the anticovid vaccine to the entire population over 18 years of age and who are four months from the inoculation of the second dose.
“We have enabled the third dose of the # covid-19 vaccine for everyone over 18 years old,” the president posted on his Twitter.
He noted that “the third dose should be placed with a minimum of 4 months after the second dose has taken effect”; and added that if the person is not sure of the date, “the system will assign one,” he added.
Bukele pointed out that the country has 160 vaccination nationwide, a “megacenter” and 3 “self-services”, in which people arrive in their cars for the application of the vaccine without having to get off.
In addition, he indicated that 30 daily vaccination days are carried out for people who for any reason cannot make their previous appointment. “We also have the option to get vaccinated on Sundays,” added the president.
Health personnel began on September 26 to apply the third dose of the anticovid vaccine to those over 60 years of age, health workers, police officers, soldiers, teachers and firefighters.
Drug stores, pharmacies, laboratories, people with chronic illnesses and lifeguards are also authorized to receive a third dose.
The official statistics indicate that 94,082 third doses have been applied, while the first doses amounted to 4,135,720 and the second to 3,488,144, for a total of 7,717,946 doses.
The Savior reported 19 more deaths from the coronavirus on Monday, one of the highest numbers of people killed by covid-19 in a single day since the pandemic began in the country.
