Thionville. Open your eyes to the world with the Festival Le Réel in sight

After a year 2020 marked by the health crisis, the Festival Le Réel en vue is a strong moment to take back the pulse of the world with documentary films that address themes related to questions of the environment, art or even way of mobilizing to stay alive while keeping your dignity in a world in turmoil. Faithful to its commitments to promote “living together” through cultural events in the city and its neighborhoods, the Le Lierre center, in collaboration with the municipality of Thionville, invites you to explore the world of documentaries by attending the various events. of the festival. “With the festival, around ten actions are organized all year round with a large audience,” comments Thierry Léger, festival coordinator. “These are times when we allow a large number of participants to use their critical gaze by creating, debating and exchanging with professionals. We are developing this variety of actions in order to better meet the objectives that we have set for the event, namely the promotion of documentary cinematographic practice, media and image education, and inclusion. of all audiences. From Thursday November 4 to Saturday November 27, the following will be offered: meetings with directors, image analysis sessions, cinema workshops, screenings of short films.

Programme

• Young images of reality : the “Young images of reality” program will be held on Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 November, around numerous activities, exhibitions, meetings, documentary and digital training, video competition, and will take place at Puzzle and at the La Scala cinema.

• The documentary competition : it will offer, from Thursday 4 to Thursday 25 November, four feature films: I am Greta , 17 Block , Copyright Van Gogh and When the tomatoes meet Wagner. They will be accompanied by the screening of short films produced as part of the masterclass. This year, the festival will offer a carte blanche to the director and artist Pierre Villemin, president of this 24th edition and guest of honor, that is to say the screening of two films out of competition, on Saturday, November 27, at La Scala.

“The presence of professionals (filmmakers, photographers, technicians, etc.) during the festival will allow us to question our ways of representing and seeing reality through the discourse of images, and to develop our sense of analysis of the complex world. in which we live, ”concludes Thierry Léger.
