Thionville. Nearly 1,000 vaccinations in two days at the theater

The vaccination center located in the municipal theater of Thionville was allocated at the end of last week 700 doses of anti-Covid vaccine AstraZeneca, as part of a “special” operation aimed at accelerating the care of children under 75 years old. “These doses initially intended for general practitioners were available”, specifies Jean-Christophe Hamelin-Boyer, doctor of pharmacy and municipal councilor in charge of supplying the vaccination center.

Organized into two teams of around twenty volunteers each day, the center carried out nearly 1,000 injections in two days (488 Saturday and 500 Sunday, ie 288 Pfizer doses and 700 AstraZeneca doses).

As of Monday March 8, the campaign will continue with new targets for an increase of 400 vaccinations per day (288 Pfizer and 120 AstraZeneca) accessible by reservation via the doctolib.fr site.

“The succession will have to be ensured by the town medicine”

Until then reserved for over 75s, caregivers and frail people, vaccination extends to the 50 to 74 age group who have co-morbidities. “I do not know how many vaccines we will have next week,” admits Jean-Christophe Hamelin-Boyer, who points to the lack of visibility.

There is also the question of the second injection (between four and twelve weeks) since not all people will be able to receive it at the vaccination center which is not intended to remain open beyond “end of April-beginning of May”.

“The succession will have to be ensured by city medicine, pharmacies and liberal nurses”, continues the city councilor.
