Thionville. At 7, he was alone to eat and go to school

Sacha * was 7 years old in 2019. Arrived in Moselle with his mother and his big sister at the end of 2018 to escape a daily life marked by the violence of a radicalized father, the child very quickly found himself on his own. Forced to work for a living, the mother with flexible hours appeared before the Thionville criminal court for neglect of a child compromising her health and safety.

On November 20, 2019, the next door neighbor gave the alert. It is 5:15 p.m. Sacha is alone at home and she hears him cry. When help arrives, the child ends up opening the door. He tells the police that his mom has gone shopping and is coming back. The representatives of the police contacted the mother of the family, who seemed “exhausted” and sent her daughter, who no longer lived with them, to take care of the child in her place.

“A child who is well”

The neighbor says that little Sacha is very often alone, that he goes to school and comes back alone, that he has to heat up meals cooked in the microwave to eat and that sometimes, it is she who must feed him some evenings.

At the bar, the mother admits to having been forced to leave her son but “never more than an hour or two”. Placed for a few months in a reception structure, the child ended up returning to the family home. “We are gradually rebuilding ourselves,” says the mother.

“Today, the situation has stabilized. We have a child who is doing well, ”argues master Borella for whom child neglect is not characterized. Little Sacha’s mother was finally released.
