The police carried out a very strange arrest in Amsterdam yesterday. A policeman’s bicycle was stolen in Linnaeusstraat. Not much later, a man on the street offered him a new one. It turned out to be his own bike.
–
The officer was conducting an investigation nearby at the time where he was not wearing his uniform. When he parked his bicycle against a post and turned around for a moment, a thief took off with his bicycle.

After the policeman learned that his bicycle had been stolen, he decided to explore the area in the hope of finding it again. In the Eerste Van Swindenstraat a man came cycling to meet him. He stopped, unsuspectingly approached the officer and offered him the bicycle for 20 euros. “That way he could buy another beer.”
–
When asked how the man got his bike, he responded with: “It was around the corner, not locked!” The officer then decided to identify himself as a police. He told him that the man still had to wait for his beer, because he had been arrested for theft.
