Governor Omar Prieto held a meeting this Friday, August 7, with the representatives of the shrimp trade union and shipping companies of the Zulia state, in order to establish more friendly measures for compliance with export permits.

“There was talk of harmonizing operating costs in the Port of Maracaibo, so that we can technically remain competitive from the point of view of collection for shipping companies,” Prieto reported from the Official Residence of Governors, in Maracaibo.

He indicated that the measures are focused on managing exports to the Asian or European market, “where our capacities are quite competitive.”

“We continue to advance to harmonize, make more flexible and join as a State together with the productive sector. Our purpose is to continue placing their products in other countries ”, he said.

The actions are framed in guidelines that contribute to “speed up the issue of permits, in which some have delays, so we are coordinating with the Minister of Fisheries and other institutions,” he added during the meeting.

Part of the shipping guild joined, for the first time, in the meeting of this 7-A to talk about international documentation and permits.

Miguel Freino, a worker at Z Naviera, indicated that “we are trying to reduce costs to specifically encourage production. We are also working so that the documentation and permits required to export a container are less cumbersome than they are now ”.

He explained that in the coming weeks he will meet with other sectors such as livestock. “We are going to meet with all sectors.”

Shrimp sector obtains sanitary certification for exports to China

The president of the Western Shrimp Association of the country, Fernando Villamizar, affirmed that the sector received a sanitary certification for the Venezuelan-China export.

“We have recognized that the production is very good in the international market, and it is fruitful that we have obtained a health certificate for China. It’s something historic, “he said.

He confirmed that it is one of the great aspirations of the sector, being the productive approach with the regional authorities. “I have to repeat it tirelessly, this is the way we are going to prosper in our markets.”

Next Tuesday the governor will meet with the livestock sector of Zulia.
