The Senate project that was removed from the desk of Governor Wanda Vázquez, after having been approved by both legislative bodies, to transfer land from the beach known as Mar Chiquita to private hands is not dead, according to the mayor of Manatí, José Sánchez.
However, the mayor assured in a radio interview that the municipal administration seeks to acquire these lands to prevent them from ending up in private hands.

“We want to buy the land of Mar Chiquita so that it is not in private hands,” Sánchez said in an interview with Radio Isla.
The municipal executive confirmed that the request of the President of the Senate, Thomas Rivera Schatz, so that it was to withdraw his request to present another that does have public hearings.
