Three men were arrested Tuesday for being allegedly responsible for initiating two shootings in which they shot at a residence inhabited by a family of two adults and a two-year-old child, according to the El Paso Police Department (EPPD).

According to authorities, the events occurred shortly after noon on Monday, when an El Paso police detective observed a vehicle with both plates hidden while driving in the 1600 block of Leroy Bonse Dr.

Authorities reported that the detective followed the vehicle and saw it stop in front of the residence, when the driver got out of the vehicle and fired 3 shots in the direction of the house, returned to the vehicle and fled the scene.

“The detective continued to follow the vehicle while transmitting information to the police office,” read an EPPD statement.

According to police, the vehicle was eventually stopped in the 500 block of Executive Center Blvd. and the three occupants were taken into custody.

The driver, Jonathan Ware, 18, was charged with “deadly conduct” as the home was occupied at the time by 33-year-old Michael Martinez, 38-year-old Stacey Miller and a 2-year-old boy, according to reports.

The passenger, 17-year-old Devin Louie Castillo, was also charged with participating in organized criminal activity and deadly conduct.

Also, during the investigation, gang investigators learned that Ware and a man identified as Gevoni Shears, 17, were involved in a previous, unreported shooting from a vehicle in the 2800 block of Grant Ave.

Grant’s shooting occurred around 6:00 a.m. on June 14. Ware and Shears were charged with deadly conduct in that shooting and booked on June 15.

Ware was booked into the El Paso County Detention Center on a $ 750,000 bond and Castillo was booked on a $ 500,000 bond, while $ 5,000 was assigned to Shears.
