During the morning of Wednesday, a new voluntary collection of blood and bone marrow was carried out, within the framework of the World Blood Donor Day that was celebrated on June 14. The activity was organized by the San Luis Blood Bank and coordinated by the Hemotherapy Service of the “Madre Catalina Rodríguez” Hospital.
Eighteen donors attended the hospital, located on Juana Azurduy street, including Alicia Bence, a neighbor of Villa de Merlo, who said: “A co-worker was looking for blood donors of the factor that I have and I came without hesitation. It is very important to donate blood because there are many people who need it and one can give a great hand ”.
At his side, Raquel Sotin, a resident of Piedra Blanca, also decided to donate blood, since her group and factor (0 negative) are usually rare. Upon leaving the place he said: “I recommend to those who do not dare to donate blood to donate, it takes half an hour and you help a lot to those who need it.”
For his part, Rodrigo Bello, a professional from the local hospital’s Hemotherapy Service, highlighted the importance of this type of campaign: “It is very important to donate blood because for each person who donates, three lives can be saved.”
