They can visit homes for the elderly after two months. The number of infected people is increasing, but the ministry has called off the increase in the PES index

Saturday brought another small easing of epidemic measures to the Czech Republic. After almost two months, visits to homes for the elderly and other inpatient social care facilities are again allowed.

“Seniors feel isolated, it doesn’t have to be only in homes for the elderly, it can also be in families. It is good that the family can unite better than before, “said the author of the books Babičko, narrate and Dědečka, narrate Monika Kopřivová.

However, it is not possible to come to a home for the elderly without restrictions. Visits must have a negative test for coronavirus or show that they have passed it in the last quarter. He must also wear a respirator during the visit.

The way to get the test result varies from one social facility to another. Some have reserved a paramedic to test the visit. In that case, the examination is covered by public health insurance. However, other homes require a test performed elsewhere. In that case, however, applicants must pay for it themselves.

In Kroměříž homes, visitors can be tested on site, but only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. “The test is valid for 48 hours. Then they have to be tested again if they want to visit again, “Dagmar Klučková, director of the Social Services of the City of Kroměříž. The test site opened on Friday and 31 people came to it. “Everyone was negative and everyone was really looking forward to coming to see their relatives,” the headmistress added.

The visits themselves are limited to 30 minutes in Kroměříž, while a maximum of two people can come to one client.

In the autumn, according to the Association of Social Service Providers, 12,000 residents of homes for the elderly became infected, ie roughly one in five of their clients. From mid-November, homes were obliged to screen clients with antigen tests, they had to do it by Friday. Now only ongoing testing of employees continues. They must take the test once every five days.

The epidemic score remains unchanged. It rose at night, returning it to 57

The covid-19 epidemic in the Czech Republic is currently stagnating in terms of the number of newly infected. Daily numbers remain between four and five thousand. The decline from previous weeks thus stopped, while Thursday and Friday brought slightly higher numbers than the same days in the previous week. There were 284 more positive tests on Friday compared to last Friday, and 121 more compared to Thursday.

The Ministry of Health increased the PES index at night from 57 to 59 after twelve days. In the morning, however, it re-evaluated the data and returned it to 57. Ladislav Dušek, director of the Office of Health Information and Statistics, made it clear that They show that there were more samples than originally calculated, and therefore the ratio of positive tests to the total number was not so high.

According to Dušek, the PES score is updated automatically at half past one at night. Additional data on the tests performed did not arrive until six in the morning. “It simply came to our notice then. In order not to repeat the situation, the PES update was set to 06:30 every day, “said Dušek.

However, even a two-point increase would not mean that there is an imminent threat of tightening the epidemic measures;

PES is at the third level in only half of the regions

The Czechia did not move to the third level of the measure, which made it possible to open shops or restaurants with restrictions, until Thursday. The Minister of Health Jan Blatný (for YES) did not rule out that the tightening could come.

At the regional level, it is no longer the case that Prague is at its best. The relative number of people infected began to rise in the city itself and in its immediate vicinity. In Prague, it has risen from about 150 after Friday to 163 infected per hundred thousand inhabitants in the last seven days, in the district of Prague-West there are 156 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants. The best situation now is Cheb, where the infection was confirmed in 115 people out of a hundred thousand in the last week, the worst affected district remains Havlíčkobrodsko with 524 cases per hundred thousand inhabitants.

However, the regional version of the PES score still rates Prague most favorably, with 49 points. In the Karlovy Vary region, it has reached 54. However, only half of the regions are currently below 60. Above it, ie at a level corresponding to the fourth degree of risk, are the Vysočina, Královéhradecký, Moravskoslezský, Zlínský, Liberecký, Olomoucký and Ústecký regions. In the Liberec and Olomouc regions it is even over 70.
