They buried the weasel secretly! The family refused a state funeral, an invitation was given to a Czech actor

Just three days after the death of Milan Lasica, who died on stage, the last farewell to the Slovak bard took place. The funeral took place on the afternoon of July 21 without much hype, in secret and in silence in the Bratislava crematorium. There was speculation about a state funeral with honors and a declaration of state mourning, the family rejected such a variant.

“The family has decided that it should take place in the absolute narrowest circle, and this must be respected.” said Lasic’s longtime collaborator Pavol Danišovič.

His wife Magda Vášáryová, their two daughters and other selected mourning guests said goodbye to the actor. Among them was, for example, the Czech actor Bolek Polívka and his wife, who performed on stage with Lasica for years and were good friends.

Earlier, the media reported that the government would offer the family of the deceased artist the possibility of a state funeral, but that the form of the last farewell to the deceased is at the discretion of the bereaved.

“The protocol of the government office will contact the family and offer them some options, such as an honor guard, a book of condolences, the hoisting of a black flag and the like,” said the head of the parliamentary club of the coalition party Freedom and Solidarity (SaS) Anna Zemanová after Monday’s meeting of the coalition council. It was the SaS that announced that it would propose a declaration of state mourning to government partners.

Milan Lasica was married for over 40 years to the actress and later diplomat Magda Vášáryová, with whom he had two daughters: Hana and Žofia.

He died on Sunday at the age of 81, collapsed during a performance with the orchestra at the Bratislava Theater Studio L + S, which he founded.

However, Lasic’s significance went beyond the world of theater and film, as shown by the statements of top state officials and obituaries in the press. On Monday, a petition appeared on social networks for arranging a state funeral for Lasic.
