The corona virus currently dominates the globe. There are known viruses that can exterminate humanity in a very short time.
Viruses are generally divided into risk groups. Depending on how contagious and dangerous they are, they can be classified in levels between 1 and 4, whereby 1 is harmless and 4 is life-threatening. Corona belongs to risk group 3. Just like HIV, for example. The flu is classified in group 2.
Rabies is usually fatal
But Ebola is much more dangerous than Corona. The virus, which is particularly common in Central Africa, gives people a severe fever. Bleeding also occurs. Mortality is particularly high. In the outbreaks examined, up to 90 percent of those infected die.
The Lassa virus is also classified in risk group 4. Rodents excrete the pathogen in high concentration. This can lead to food contamination. The symptoms are flu-like, but there is a more severe occurrence in every fifth infected person. Around 15 percent of people die from the Lassa virus.
Rabies is usually fatal. This is caused by the Lyssavirus. The pathogen is in the saliva of animals. With a bite, it can be transmitted to humans. If you are infected, you suffer from a headache and loss of appetite. The wound can burn and itch partially. If there are cramps, aversion to water and light, death can no longer be averted. In the best case, vaccination can prevent the outbreak even after transmission.
According to the WHO, 59,000 people die from rabies worldwide every year. But one suspects a far higher number of unreported cases in Asia and Africa.
