These Tromsø companies will be affected if industrial workers go on strike on Friday

The case is being updated.

Both Fellesforbundet and Parat confirmed on Sunday afternoon that there was a breach in the voluntary mediation.

Without agreement in the mediation request, 28,000 industrial workers in more than 700 companies across the country can be taken out on strike on Friday. 133 of the workers and 8 of the companies belong to Tromsø.

NTB writes that the deadline for mediation is Thursday 20 August at 24. If the parties do not reach an agreement, there will be a strike from the beginning of working hours on Friday 21 August.

– From tomorrow, Monday 17 August, the mediation will be forced, says national broker Mats Wilhelm Ruland in a press release on Sunday.

– The parties in the front subject, Fellesforbundet and Norsk Industri, and Parat and Norsk Industri, have until today, 16 August 2020, been in voluntary mediation after there was a break in the negotiations, he says according to NTB.

These Tromsø companies may be affected:

If there is a strike, 133 organized workers in 8 Tromsø companies can go on strike from Friday.

VG has made an overview of the company which is a member of the NHO association Norsk Industri. Here is a list of the eight companies in Tromsø that may be affected and in parentheses how many employees are organized and consequently may be taken out on strike:

  • Vonin Refa AS sales department Tromsø (8 employees).
  • Celsa Steel Service AS department Tromsø (3 employees).
  • Pon Equipment AS Workshop Tromsø (20 employees).
  • Tromsø Mekaniske AS (26 employees).
  • Maritim Sveiseservice AS (25 employees).
  • Cinderella Eco Production AS department Lyngen (15).
  • NOFI Tromsø AS department Eidkjosen (12 employees).
  • NOFI Tromsø AS department Tromsø (4 employees).

NOFI: – Hoping for a solution before Friday

NOFI has two departments in Tromsø with a total of 16 employees. 12 of them belong to the department in Eidkjosen on Kvaløya.

CEO Torgrim Rørtveit says the danger of a strike will affect the days to come.

– Strike is one of the tools in the toolbox when there are negotiations. Even though we all hope that it will not be used, it now looks as if it may become relevant from Friday, Rørtveit says to iTromsø.

– Do you think there will be a strike?

– I hope for a solution before Friday and that you arrive at a result that all parties can be happy with.

Rørtveit says that the corona measures have made 2020 a strange year for most companies, also for NOFI.

– But we have not been as affected as we feared. However, the corona situation is far from over and will continue to affect both us and others in the time to come.
