These festivals have already set an (uncertain) date for next summer

“Artists are all megasolidaires. We can agree with almost everyone: if it does not go ahead, we will not have to pay”, says Rob Simon van Komm Schon Alter. “We already incur costs, but they are still manageable, such as a booked flight for an artist. We also hope to make favorable cancellation agreements with stage builders and tent rental companies, for example. For many of them the work has now come to a standstill, that is sad. But it is also of no use to demanding hard down payments now. “

Guarantee fund

The caretaker cabinet has a guarantee fund of at least 300 million announced for events from 1 July. The festival industry is eagerly awaiting the details. “We don’t know how it works yet. Nice that it has been announced, but what exactly does it mean, who is it for?” says Ivette Forster of Reggae Lake Festival.

Due to the uncertainty, Jasper Coenen of Soenda Festival has not yet made firm agreements with suppliers. “You can now do not insure against anything, the government guarantee fund is therefore very important. We have a good relationship with our suppliers and you keep them in option for as long as possible. But at some point we have to confirm. “

Already paid

Reggae Lake has ‘pushed’ the canceled edition of last year to this year. “We have an agreement with all artists from back then that they will come this year now”, says Forster. “We already paid them last year, including some suppliers.”

What if festivals are only allowed from September? “Then we will shift it again”, says Diederik Broekhuizen of Tropikali. “Hopefully the festival location NDSM will still have a place in the agenda. If necessary, we will do it on a Wednesday, then people will take time off.”
