These are the ten cheapest mid-range cars

A low price on the sign in the dealership can be deceptive – because the real costs (such as fuel, repairs, depreciation) of a car only become apparent in everyday life. Then you will sometimes find that a supposedly cheap model is actually quite expensive. This ranking shows the ten cheapest middle-class cars.

Small costs, such as a trip through the car wash, and large items such as insurance and repairs: They quickly add up to a handsome sum. And all of a sudden, the supposed special offer that attracted an attractive price at the dealership is no longer there.

Many drivers find it difficult to understand these costs before making a purchase. The data from the ADAC provide orientation. They show how high the approximate maintenance costs for cars are in six segments.

The monthly maintenance costs for six segments

  • Small car: from around 350 euros
  • Small car: from around 400 euros
  • Lower middle class: from around 470 euros
  • Middle class: from around 600 euros
  • Upper middle class: from around 950 euros
  • Upper class: from around 1,500 euros

However, these figures only provide a rough guide. This is shown by two examples from the middle class. The Peugeot 508, 10th in the ADAC rankings, is by far not the most expensive car in the segment. Nevertheless, it costs its owner exactly 657 euros per month. However, if you choose the Skoda Octavia in first place, you get 1,860 euros cheaper throughout the year.

So it is worthwhile not only to consider price and consumption when buying, but also to consider the following costs.
