There’s a ‘Walkie Talkie’ Feature for Smartphone Users from Microsoft

Citing site The Verge, Sunday, January 16, 2022, the “Walkie Talkie” feature can be used by smartphone owners to conduct audio communication in a certain area without the need to use cellular data or connect to wifi.

The feature was actually launched by Microsoft with the initial idea to help workers in the field who might have difficulty carrying out day-to-day operations within the company.

In collaboration with communications technology company Zebra Tech, Microsoft developed the software to create a “Push-To-Talk” button to create an experience for users like using a real “Walkie Talkie”.

This feature is also clearly different from the features available in instant messaging applications today and can be a new breakthrough because it provides a different experience.

So far, a similar feature may be found on devices made by Apple that launched in 2018 on its Apple Watch devices.
