There will be demonstrations around the palace and in front of the DPR, here are 7 student demands

College student who are members of the Indonesian Student Alliance (AMI) will hold a demonstration in Jakarta Central Jakarta (Central Jakarta). These are the 7 demands of students in the demonstration that will be held at the 2 points.

“Seven people’s demands for the 7th President,” BEM UI Chief Bayu Satria told detik.comWednesday (20/4/2022).

As for the 2 points that will be the location of the demonstration, namely around the State Palace and in front of the DPR Building. Bayu said that it was not only student elements who would protest.

“The DPR and the State Palace. Elements of students and workers will join tomorrow’s action,” said Bayu.

1. Strict action against constitutional criminals and reject the discourse of extending the term of office of the president
2. Lower prices of basic necessities and overcome economic inequality
3. Take firm action against all repressive actions against civil society with a strict and non-discriminatory mechanism
4. Realize scientific, free and democratic education
5. Pass the pro-people bill, reject the pro-oligarch bill
6. Realize true agrarian reform
7. Complete all human rights violations

3 Areas in Central Jakarta will be closed tomorrow morning

Polda Metro Jaya carried out traffic engineering before and during the demonstration of the Indonesian Student Alliance. A total of 200 personnel will be deployed to manage traffic around the student demonstration site.

“About 200 personnel,” said Director of Lantas Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Sambodo Purnomo Yogo at Pasar Senen Station, Wednesday (20/4/2022).

Sambodo said a number of roads would be closed. Among others, in front of the Sapta Pesona, Harmoni, and Gambir buildings, which lead to the State Palace and in front of the Indonesian Parliament building.

“There will be some traffic engineering that we will do from the morning, maybe around 09.00 WIB, at 10.00 WIB,” he said.

AMI is known to be protesting on Thursday (21/4). They carry the demands of rejecting the postponement of the election, extending the term of office to economic problems.
