There were 290 more cases of coronavirus infection on Tuesday, the highest since the end of June Home

Prague During Tuesday, the most cases of covid-19 in the Czech Republic have increased since the end of June, and laboratories have confirmed 289 newly infected. Since the outbreak in the Czech Republic in early March, the disease has been confirmed in a total of 17,387 people. So far, 102 new cases of the disease have been recorded on Wednesday. The number of currently ill patients continues to grow, of which there are now a record 5099. Most of all districts in the country are now affected by the spread of the disease in Frýdek-Místek. This follows from information on the website of the Ministry of Health.

Hygienists last recorded a higher daily increase than on Tuesday, on June 28, when it reached 305. Recently, the number of infected people has risen by a thousand in just five days. This is similar to the pace of spring, when the country was in a state of emergency and restricted free movement, business and day-to-day activities. After the abolition of area measures, now stricter rules, for example for wearing veils or holding mass events, are introduced only in places of local outbreaks.

As well as the daily increase in those infected on Tuesday, the share of proven cases of the disease in the number of tests performed on covid-19 rose from 2.82 percent on Monday to 3.59 percent. The number of tests performed also increased slightly from approximately 7,400 on Monday to more than 8,000 on Tuesday.

The most affected district remains Frýdek-Místek, where there are about 70 new cases of covid-19 per 100,000 inhabitants in the last seven days. In the past week, the Prachatice region registered over 43 newly infected per 100,000 inhabitants and the Tábor, Prague, Prague-West and Karviná regions over 20. This figure is zero only in the Rokycany and Jeseník districts.

So far, 388 patients have died with covid-19. According to revised data from the ministry, two deaths were added on Tuesday and one on Wednesday. 11,900 people have already been cured, which is about two thirds of people who have been diagnosed with the disease since the outbreak. It is crucial for professionals that the number of hospitalized and those requiring intensive care does not change significantly. According to the latest data, 121 patients were treated with coronavirus in hospitals, 15 of whom were in severe condition.

On Monday, the Ministry of Health presented for the first time a so-called traffic light, ie a map of districts according to the epidemic situation. Nine districts fall into the first green level – they are Prague, Brno and Ostrava, Prague-West and Prague-East, Karviná, Frýdek-Místek, Jihlava and Prachatice. Other districts are white, ie without risk.

Although there are new cases in the green areas, the disease is not spreading in the community. According to the Ministry’s instructions, the local hygienic stations should consider recommendations for the use of protective equipment and disinfection, activate information lines, and strengthen sampling points and laboratories; hospitals may limit visits.
