So far, it is certain that another 13,605 people became infected with covid-19, compared to Thursday, there were more of them, but compared to last Friday, this is a decrease of about 1,600 cases.

Hospitals do not feel any decline. The situation varies significantly across the Czech Republic in individual regions. Due to the population, the numbers of those infected are very high throughout the country, but the worst affected districts are now across the country. In the last week, more than a thousand people have been infected per hundred thousand inhabitants in the districts of Benešov (1118), Náchod (1113) and Přerov (1047). Only slightly under a thousand new cases per hundred thousand inhabitants in the last seven days are in the Pelhřimov region (997), Rakovnicko region (983) or Prostějov region (953). There were 1187 more on Friday, which means a decrease compared to Thursday even compared to last Friday. Prague has been reporting lower numbers compared to last week since Tuesday. The Central Bohemian Region also recorded a slight decline compared to last Friday, where 1,794 new cases were added, but the situation worsened compared to Thursday.

Measures continue, children do not return to school

On Friday, Minister of Health Jan Blatný (for YES) and Ladislav Dušek, Director of the Institute of Health Information and Statistics, spoke about the hope that the development of the epidemic in the Czech Republic is starting to improve slightly. “What is happening now is probably the beginning of the reduction. If this beginning continues, we will have won. We haven’t won yet, “said Blatný.

However, this does not mean that the lifting of the bans announced by the government in recent weeks due to the uncontrolled spread of the disease has been on the agenda. The only temporary exception is shops that offer soul-related goods. On weekends, piety stores, including stalls, and stonemasons may be open. They are also not subject to the rule that shops, with the exception of pharmacies and train stations, must be closed all Sunday.

At present, there is a ban on going out between nine in the evening and five in the morning and restrictions on free movement for the rest of the day, when people can go to work, shopping or walking. Most shops are closed, the rest must close no later than eight o’clock in the evening, restaurants can only have a dispensing window open.

Last week, ministers announced that, contrary to previous promises, schools would remain closed even after the weekend, with the exception of kindergartens, while pupils would no longer attend special schools. The Minister of Education Robert Plaga (for YES) together with Jan Blatný assured on Friday that they will try to return to schools at least the first and second year of primary schools as soon as possible, the last years of primary and secondary schools should follow.

Before the weekend, the government decided to extend the state of emergency, which was originally scheduled to end on November 3, and the follow-up measures. The new state of emergency will last until November 20. The cabinet wanted to extend it for a month, but deputies whose members needed the government to agree did not agree. However, if necessary, the Cabinet may contact them with another request for an extension.
