There were 13 deaths due to dengue during the Covid-19 pandemic

Mataram, Gatra.com – The rainy season in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) has started to fall. Often the climate change from summer to rainy season is always accompanied by the emergence of cases of dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF). When the Covid-19 pandemic has yet to show when it will end, in fact, dengue cases are a health problem that cannot be underestimated. Head of the NTB Health Office Hj Nurhandini Eka Dewi said that there were 4,319 cases of dengue fever until the end of September. This figure can be called high, but the death rate due to it (DHF, red) is quite small, only 13 cases. Eka stated, for the 13 patients who died from dengue, most of them came from West Lombok Regency, followed by Mataram City and East Lombok Regency. DHF transmission is fastest in densely populated settlements. “The city of Mataram has a fairly dense population. In West Lombok the population density is in certain settlements. It should also be noted that dengue cases are prone to occur in areas where many residents are affected by Covid-19, ”said Eka in Mataram, Tuesday (20/10). It is said, seeing the 13 death rates in NTB is still relatively low. However, the public must remain vigilant about this disease. The current rainy season has the potential for dengue fever to increase. Because it is necessary to watch out for stagnant water which can be a location for mosquito larvae to develop. According to Eka, in order to prevent dengue, the implementation of 3M Plus must be of concern to the public in order to avoid dengue attacks. 3 MPlus is a community action in the form of draining, closing water reservoirs and recycling used goods that have the potential to become a place for mosquitoes to breed. “Then there is the Plus, which is an additional measure of preventing mosquito larvae from developing by sprinkling larvicide powder, using mosquito repellents and others. Including controlling the light and ventilation of the house and not hanging clothes that can be a place for mosquitoes to nest, “said Eka. Eka added, the rate of increase in DHF cases was not too volatile. From August to September there are about 300 additional DHF cases. Eka said, the number of DHF cases of 300 for one province is not a lot, it is still the same number every month.
