There is still a huge demand for motorhomes, prices are rising

“Demand skyrocketed across Europe last year, so waiting times have been greatly extended. Whereas in the past the most popular 3.5-ton cars were delivered in half a year to a year, today the delivery period starts at 12 months. All segments are growing, from residential vans to luxury cars, ”said Jan Bordovský, the founder of the Czech Camping and Caravanning Association.

According to him, 60,000 motorhomes and caravans are currently registered and in operation in the Czech Republic, but this is only an approximate number. Motorhome dealers currently have to deal not only with the lack of cars on the market, but also with uncertainty about the price.

“The situation is changing these days, mainly due to the outage of production by Fiat, which produces the most used motorhome chassis. Manufacturers are trying to get replacements, but chassis from competing manufacturers could raise the price of motor homes by 20 to 30 percent. We are still waiting. We expect a sharper increase in the price of motorhomes, the prices of caravans will probably only increase by individual percentages, ”assumes Petr Havlíček, the director of Hykro.

Manufacturers will deliver already ordered cars at the old prices, but all new contracts will take into account the new price.

This is also confirmed by Filip Guryča from Blue Rent. “We have printed price lists printed on the stand, but they are no longer valid at this time. All signed contracts have the addition that the final price will follow the price list at the time of delivery. I assume that in the next quarter the price of luxury motorhomes will increase by four percent, in the most popular category 3.5 tons it will probably be seven percent, “added Guryča.

The reason for the increase is, in addition to the production outage in some car manufacturers, also more expensive transport. Motorhome manufacturers are now rejecting larger orders.
