There is no cure yet, what can cure a patient when infected with the Corona Virus? All pages

KOMPAS.com – Number of cases corona virus in the world until Sunday (20/9/2020) there were more than 31 million cases, with more than 960,000 people dying.

In Indonesia, to date, there are 240,687 cases Covid-19. From that number, more than 9,000 people died, and about 174,000 people recovered.

Amid the increasing number of cases and death toll, the number of patients who have recovered from corona virus infection also continues to increase.

On social media, many have asked, what is the key to healing Covid-19 patients, considering that there is no cure until now?

As is known, experts from various countries are conducting research to find vaccines and drug to deal with the virus that has plagued since the end of 2019.

A clinical pathologist who is also the spokesperson for the Covid-19 Task Force at UNS Hospital, Dr. Tonang Dwi Ardyanto explained, there are several things that need to be understood about Covid-19.

Covid-19 is a disease that occurs due to a viral infection. Like a disease caused by a virus, this disease is self-limiting disease.

This means that when the life cycle of the virus in a person’s body is complete, the patient will be cured.

However, keep in mind and concern is the body’s resistance as long as the virus attacks.

“The only problem is, can the body survive as long as the virus is not dead? That’s the problem,” said Tonang when contacted Kompas.com, Sunday (20/9/2020).

Therefore, he continued, immune system is important in fighting the corona virus.

“So the key is to increase the body’s resistance, so that it is able to pass the phase before the virus dies,” he said.

Don’t underestimate

Even though Covid-19 is self-limiting disease, Tonang emphasizes, can not underestimate the corona virus.

He said, 80 to 85 percent of Covid-19 patients had no symptoms and could recover on their own, even without medication.

However, said Tonang, this has led to misunderstandings and misperceptions in society.

Tonang said, what needs to be understood is that although there are patients who can recover on their own, it does not mean that this disease can be cured, for example, by simply drinking plain water.

Moreover, if there are assumptions and those who question why some are healed, while those who are hospitalized are fatal.

He said these understandings were wrong. The risk of worsening remains potential for those who are infected as long as the virus remains in the body.

In addition, those who are hospitalized are generally those with severe conditions and weak immune systems.

Therefore, the risk of being fatal to death will be much greater even if you have taken drugs.

What should be done and consumed when positive for Covid-19?

Tonang explained that in principle there is no specific drug that can be given to patients COvid-19, except on the recommendation of a doctor or monitoring health facility.

However, for actions that can be taken and can be consumed without a doctor’s recommendation, include:

1. Vitamins. There are no specific vitamins, but one that has high levels of vitamin C, vitamin E and zinc is recommended. The diet is also not specific, but the consumption of red meat, fruit and vegetables would be better.

2. Try to have a Pulse Oxymetri device to measure oxygen saturation and check in the morning-afternoon-evening-before bed.

3. Have a thermometer to check the temperature in the morning-afternoon-evening-before bed.

4. Measurements are neatly recorded, and immediately go to the doctor or health facility that carries out the monitoring if:

  • Saturation drops below 95 percent.
  • The temperature starts at more than 37.3 degrees Celsius.

5. If there is diarrhea, shortness of breath, or you feel weak, immediately report it to the health facility / health worker who monitors it.
