Petra Pecková from Mayors rules in the Central Bohemian Region. After four seats in the council, STAN and ODS have two, the Pirates hold two seats, the Allies for the Central Bohemian Region one. The deputies of the newly elected governor are Martin Kupka (ODS), Věslav Michalik (STAN) and Jiří Snížek (Pirates).

For example, the new leadership has already decided that the Central Bohemian Region will cancel student and senior fare introduced in the past on the basis of the CSSD’s election promise from next year due to savings. Its representatives also want to save money by abolishing the participatory budget for citizens’ projects. Symbolically, they removed the turnstiles from the regional office building to make it more open.

South Bohemian

Martin Kuba (ODS) became the new South Bohemian governor after the elections. The region is led by a coalition of ODS, KDU-ČSL and TOP 09, ČSSD and the Jihočeši movement. In total, it has 29 seats out of 55 representatives.

The Pilsen Region is headed by the ODS with TOP 09 for the next four years and the post-election bloc of STAN and Pirates. They have 25 seats in the 45-member council. Ilona Mauritzová, the leader of the ODS regional candidate, a deputy and representative of the city of Pilsen, who was also the rector of the University of West Bohemia until 2018, became the governor.

The Pilsen region will repair fewer roads than before due to lower revenues. Due to the coronavirus crisis and government measures, according to current estimates, it will probably lose hundreds of millions of crowns in tax revenues, and will not be able to put so much money into road repairs.

Regional councilors have also approved 4.5 million crowns for the Sušice Hospital, the founder of which is the city. The hospital with a catchment area for more than 40,000 inhabitants is facing major personnel and economic problems, and the city has to pay millions of crowns in losses.

Karlovy Vary

The Karlovy Vary region still does not have an elected leadership. Even the fourth continuation of the inaugural meeting of the council on Tuesday did not end in a successful election. The club of 21 representatives from STAN, Pirates, Local, VOK and SNK1 and the club K5 composed of ODS and KDU-ČSL and one representative from SNK1 have not yet concluded a coalition agreement.

The ODS could discuss the proposal of Club 21 to become Olga Haláková (KDU-ČSL) this week. The meeting of the council will continue on Monday, December 7.

Jan Schiller from the ANO movement became the governor of the Ústí Region. He replaced the communist Oldřich Bubeníček, who headed the region for eight years. YES won the elections in the Ústí Region. The coalition was agreed with the second ODS and the Allies for the region. In a 55-member council, the coalition has 29 votes.

After moving into the office, the new Governor Schiller found a microphone jammer, otherwise also a noise generator. Regional spokesman Martin Volf stated that the inactive, unconnected, morally and technically obsolete device will be disposed of as unnecessary and unregistered material.

So far, the management has focused mainly on resolving the coronavirus crisis and preparing the budget for the following year. It will help, for example, the zoological and botanical gardens in Liberec and theaters to offset this year’s admission losses caused by coronavirus measures. This year, in connection with the covidu-19 pandemic, the region approved support of up to ten million crowns, more than half of the organizations were exhausted in connection with the spring closure.

The leader of the Hradec Králové Region is in the hands of the leader of the coalition of ODS, STAN and Východočechů, Martin Červíček (ODS). In addition to the aforementioned coalition, the Pirates, the Coalition for the Hradec Králové Region and the Allies for the Hradec Králové Region are also in the lead.

After the elections, the management managed to dismiss the chairman of the holding’s board of directors, Ivana Urešová, who has been leading it since 1 March this year, through the supervisory board of the Hradec Králové Region Healthcare Holding. She could be replaced by the current Deputy Chairman Marian Tomášik, who was already the Chairman of the Board before Urešová.

In the regional government, it meets together with representatives of the ODS with TOP 09, the Coalition for the Pardubice Region (KPK) and STAN.

The management wants to enter next year with a provisional budget. The reason is the uncertainty regarding the tax revenues of local governments in connection with the approval of the tax package, said Dominik Barták, the spokesman of the regional office, after Tuesday’s extraordinary meeting of the regional council. The Provisional Council will discuss the council on December 15, the regular budget at its February meeting.

As part of the solution to the coronavirus pandemic, the new leadership of the region had to ask the army to extend the assistance of soldiers in the Pelhřimov and Třebíč hospitals and the Mitrov home for the elderly until 8 December. According to President Schrek, the Mitrov home still had a lot of infected clients and staff, and all the beds with lung ventilation were occupied in the Třebíč hospital.

According to him, they went to quarantine and underwent classic PCR tests.

In the Olomouc Region, after the elections, Josef Suchánek, the leader of the Pirates and STAN and the director of the Administration of Dormitories and Canteens of Palacký University, became the new governor. The region is now led by a coalition of Pirates and STAN, the Allies-Coalition for the Olomouc Region and the ODS. He has 32 votes in the 55-member council.

The Olomouc Regional Council, for example, has already expressed its disagreement with the construction of the Danube-Odra-Elbe canal, which should also run through the region. The Czech government adopted a resolution on the start of preparations for this large-scale construction on 5 October.

“Today, the canal has no utility and economic justification. In addition, according to experts, it is a major threat to the environment. That is why I think it was the right decision not to further support its construction, “commented the decision of the regional councilors of Olomouc Governor Josef Suchánek (Pirates and STAN).
