The otherwise peaceful Strání is preparing for big maneuvers. It is known that several American bombs fell here at the end of World War II. Pyrotechnicians have now reportedly discovered one of those that did not explode.
“They did a survey and it turned out that the find should be there, but there may be some other metal object,” said TV Nova mayor Antonín Popelka. The survey showed that the bomb-sized object should be about two meters deep.
On Monday, around eight o’clock in the morning, when the technician looks under the asphalt, he decides. If Strání is evacuated, all the inhabitants will leave. The pyrotechnics calculated the perimeter at one and a half kilometers.
“We know about this event, we are ready for it, our pyrotechnicians are also ready and we have informed other components of the Integrated Rescue System about it,” said Monika Kozumplíková, a spokeswoman for the Zlín police.
For those who have nowhere to go, the municipality will send evacuation buses. “We will take them to the local part of Květná. We have prepared snacks for them, mainly so that they have access to sanitary facilities,” added Cinderella.
The locals hope that an evacuation will not be necessary. The inhabitants of the Svítkov part of Pardubice were in a similar situation last year. Instead of a bomb, a harmless anti-aircraft charge was hidden underground. Three thousand inhabitants did not have to leave their homes.
