However, according to him, there are still other penalties that must be lifted to fully implement the nuclear deal.
“Sanctions can be lifted, but they should be done unanimously, and we are asking for the full lifting of sanctions, and in the form of measures,” Rouhani said.
On Wednesday, Iranian officials confirmed an agreement had been reached on fundamental issues during the Vienna negotiations on the nuclear deal.
Iran called on the United States (US) to take the first steps to lift sanctions against the Islamic Republic.
“All members of the joint committee are determined to end the negotiations, and what I saw today in the first meeting of the joint committee [putaran kelima negosiasi] is the real intention of all participants to achieve a result,” Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister and Iran’s chief negotiator Abbas Araghchi told Press TV.
“We can make important progress, but some major issues remain unresolved, and although progress has been made, some important issues remain to be discussed,” he said.
Since early April, the Austrian capital has hosted meetings of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) on Iran’s nuclear program, to ensure the US return to the deal signed in 2015.
Washington withdrew from the deal and reimposed sanctions on Iran.
