Head of the Eijkman Molecular Biology Institute (LBM), Prof. dr. Amin Soebandrio explained the first virus came out of droplet or small particles of saliva of patients infected with covid-19 when sneezing, coughing, or talking.
The droplet then has smaller particles that are lighter in weight, which can fly through the air making airborne transmission possible.
“The contents of droplets are water, there are cells and so on, so that the water content decreases and gets smaller, the smaller the lighter, so the farther the flight,” said Prof. Amen during the Covid-19 Vaccine webinar Made in Indonesia, Wednesday (07/15/2020).
Especially if you are in a closed room and using an air conditioner (AC) virus can be pushed by the wind from the air conditioner to all parts of the room.
“It is feared that in a closed room, the virus will be pushed by the AC air to the people inside, the virus concentration will increase,” said Prof. Amen
With the possibility of covid-19 spreading through the air, the room must be designed to anticipate covid-19 with regard to air circulation.
If the room is closed and uses air conditioning, select an air conditioner that has a filter to filter viruses, and must be diligent in opening the air for air circulation.
Then finally, apply health protocols wherever you are and whenever you are by wearing a mask, keeping a distance, and diligently washing your hands.
“We know that vaccines are available at the end of the year, currently there are no specific drugs so we accept coexistence with 19, but it does not hurt, if possible avoid the crowd, keep a distance. If it is done well it can break the chain of transmission,” concluded Prof. Amen
