There were no companies interested in supplying 10 new trains for SKM. Bidders may be frightened by the tight deadline for completion of the task: the end of 2023. It almost certainly means a loss of funds for this project, however. SKM still intends to negotiate on this issue.
SKM’s biggest problem is:
no new trains
38%
lack of cleanliness on platforms and in vehicles
2%
crowds and overcrowding
30%
The tender for the supply of 10 brand new multi-unit electric units (previously planned for 4 units) was announced by SKM Trójmiasto on 2 September.
The opening date of the offers was postponed six times, which resulted in a delay of over a month. And time was of the essence here, as all vehicles need to be delivered by the end of 2023, otherwise the funding from the Center for EU Transport Projects will be lost.
And there are many indications that this will happen. The deadline for submitting offers in this procedure expired on 3 November. No company took the risk of building 10 vehicles in just over a year.
– We are in contact with the Center for EU Transport Projects and the Ministry of Funds and Regional Policies. The results of these consultations will determine the further activities of the company regarding the acquisition of new vehicles – he comments Tomasz Złotośspokesperson for SKM.
The SKM rolling stock also includes refurbished trains.
