KOMPAS.com– Aceh Governor Nova Iriansyah wrote to President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and several airlines regarding the soaring price of flight tickets from Jakarta to Banda Aceh, the province at the western tip of Indonesia.

Reported from Kompas.com (28/4/2022), Aceh Government Spokesperson Muhammad MTA said that Jakarta-Aceh flight ticket prices reach Rp 9.6 million per person for one way.

The price has increased significantly compared to normal days which is only around Rp. 2.6 million per person for one way.

According to him, the price spike was due to the law of the market involving the ability of demand and supply.

Meanwhile, the limited aircraft seats cannot accommodate the increasing demand for homecomers, especially ahead of Idul Fitri.

“The impact is of course the increase in the price of airline tickets,” he explained.

Lion Air Explanation

Following up on complaints regarding the price of flight tickets from Jakarta to Aceh, Lion Air Group through the Corporate Communications Strategic of Lion Air Group, Danang Mandala Prihantoro said that the price of the plane ticket was in accordance with the applicable regulations.

Danang explained that the ticket price for the Jakarta-Aceh flight was an airplane Water batik which flies from Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CGK) to the destination of Banda Aceh via Sultan Iskandar Muda Aceh Besar International Airport (BTJ).

Previously, Lion Air claimed to have added non-stop flights while operating regular flights to meet the needs of the community during the holidays and Eid 2022.

“Batik Air operates regular flights and adds non-stop flights from Jakarta to Banda Aceh, but all the flight service seats have been sold out,” explained Danang, in an official statement obtained Kompas.com, Friday (29/4/2022).

Therefore, the system will provide alternative options to prospective passengers on the Jakarta-Banda Aceh flight through transit and transfer or stopover and change planes.

The transit and transfer mechanism will be carried out through Kualanamu International Airport.

Mechanism of transit and transfer

The Jakarta-Aceh flight transit and transfer mechanism with Batik Air aircraft will be carried out as follows:

• Jakarta – Kualanamu with Batik Air airline (transit)
• Kualanamu – Banda Aceh continued with (connecting flight) Wings Air airline (transfer).

According to Danang, transit and transfer flights are a combination (multiple flight and multiple airport) flight services from the airline alone or with other airlines.

The flight can be continued using the same airline if the airline class is still available.

However, if the flight class on the airline has been sold out, the flight will be carried out with a different class combination from other airlines.

“On Batik Air flights, if the economy class ticket prices are sold out and business class is still available, there will be a combination of business class prices with other airlines’ economy class prices,” explained Danang.

The total selling price of these transit and transfer flights will appear automatically in the ticket booking and payment system.

“It will automatically bring up the total selling price of tickets from the entire transit sector
become one ticket price information that must be purchased/paid by prospective passengers,” added Danang.

• Economy Class, Batik Air Jakarta-Kualamu: Rp 989,100-Rp-2,301,700
• Business Class, Batik Air Jakarta-Kualamu: Rp 2,686,300-Rp 8,278,000
• Economy Class, Wings Air Kualanamu – Banda Aceh: Rp 947,500-Rp 2,034,200.
