Theater workers in Kharkiv protest

People demand cultural support not in words, but a real revision of the regional budget. The regional council says that the issue is “politicized”.

In Kharkiv, theater workers protested under the Regional State Administration building, demanding proper funding so that wage arrears do not arise. About it informs Ukrinform on Monday, March 22.

Participants stood with posters: “Fight – you will win”, “We are outraged”, “Give back your honestly earned money”, “The theater should be what society should be tomorrow”, “Culture creates a nation” and others.

In addition, about one and a half hundred protesters periodically applauded towards the Regional State Administration and chanted “Where are my 16 thousand – thousand”. They also demanded that funding should be clearly spelled out in the budget instead of the “support for theaters” clause.

“We demand that the budget be urgently revised, not a thrown handout. I think the regional council deputies – if we revise their election programs, then literally in every one we will find an item on the development and support of culture. So they need to remember this, but if they don’t wrote their programs themselves, it’s time to read them, ”said Stepan Pasichnyk, Honored Art Worker of Ukraine.

The protesters also demanded a public refutation of the words of the head of the Kharkiv Regional State Administration Aina Timchuk that the average salary in theaters is 16.5 thousand hryvnia.

The deputy head of the Regional State Administration Anton Dengub met with the directors of the theaters and then went out to the participants of the action. He said that today the issue of debt has been resolved. At the same time, according to him, the issue of financing theaters is politicized.

“The administration is only the manager of the funds allocated by the regional council. In the future, there will be sessions, appropriate decisions will be made. When I read that people will be left without wages, they will be kicked out of theaters, I have blood in my eyes. This is misinformation. I don’t know. who cheated people on this, “Dengub said.

According to him, we are talking about a reduction in funding, but so far the regional council has not agreed on the need even for six months – 54 of 73 million have been allocated.

Finally, regarding the figure of 16,500 hryvnia voiced by Aina Timchuk, the Regional State Administration is still figuring out and not ready to refute.

“I cannot comment on the words of the head. The director of the finance department is on sick leave. The information is being verified. As soon as he leaves the sick leave, we will make an appropriate statement,” the official summed up.

Recall that earlier private entrepreneurs protested under the building of the Cabinet of Ministers… SaveFOP leader urged protesters to demand a meeting with the Prime Minister.

It was also reported that Lviv miners protested in Kiev… Miners from Chervonograd arrived in the capital, demanding to pay off the wage arrears.
