Theater, music and dance return to the summer of San Javier with a 51st Festival dedicated to the world of culture

El 51st International Festival of Theater, Music and Dance of San Javier will begin on August 12 with “The House of Spirits”, the theatrical version of the novel by Isabel Allende signed by Anna María Ricart and directed Carme Portaceli. The actors Carmen Conesa and Francesc Garrido play the Trueba couple who are at the origin of the four generations of the family that, for almost a century, star in the story written by Allende 40 years ago. The Murcian Paco Azorin takes care of the scenography of the montage that with its three and a half hours duration has become one of the greatest successes of the Madrid theater season.

The music will not wait in the Festival program that on August 13 at 10:30 p.m. receives “Mastodon”, the band of the actor and singer Asier Etxeandia and the musician Enrico Bárbaro. With a self-titled debut album, “Mastodonte” flees from genres, although electronics and the echoes of mythical groups like New Order are clearly present in this musical project with a powerful stage force.

On the same day 13 and also on August 14, the Festival moves to a smaller room in the “Príncipe de Asturias” cultural center, in Santiago de la Ribera, to host José Luis Gómez with “Mio Cid. Juggler for the XXI century “, a production by the Teatro de La Abadía, Madrid, which he himself founded 25 years ago. The actor, who will receive the Prize of the 51st International Festival of Theater, Music and Dance of San Javier, stars and directs the play that he also covers with Brenda Escobedo.

The Festival says goodbye on August 22 with “Oedipus”, a co-production of International Festival of Mérida, Pentación and the Spanish Theaterl, from Madrid, who reviews the classic with text by Paco Becerra and directed by Luis Luque.
