Driven by the former mayor of the city, Daniel Dugléry, the CLPJ of Montluçon is one of thirty-three in France managed by the National Police. Ludovic Rodts has been director of the structure since 2014. He is a full-time seconded police officer:

Before, there was the local police. The idea is to get closer to the young people and to work upstream with the parents when they have difficulties, before it ends at the police station or in court.

Cultural and sporting activities for 10-17 year olds

The CLPJ is open to 10-17 year olds from the neighborhoods of Bien-Assis and La Verrerie and, beyond, to all teenagers in the Montluçon Community. “It started with motocross. Today, we offer several sports and cultural activities. They are taught to swim. We organize stays. This year, from July 12 to 14, fourteen young people are going to Perpignan. They will do caving, boating, first aid. Before, I was a diver in the river brigade, ”explains the manager.

A school dropout system since 2018

Since 2018, the CLPJ has also set up a school dropout system. The young people expelled for one or two days, or more, from their college (Jean-Zay, Jean-Jacques-Soulier, Jules-Ferry), are directed to Bien-Assis (with the authorization of the parents). They do activities there and also help with homework. ” That works. Of the twenty-six students welcomed this year, we only have two who came back a second time, ”congratulates Ludovic Rodts.

A lack of staff

The structure has ninety members, against “one hundred and ten/one hundred and twenty normally. We have a staff shortage. There were eight of us at two sites in 2014 when I started: we were at Dunlop too. Currently, we operate with three permanent and two temporary. We are in full recruitment for the summer season. They will be former members of the CLPJ.
